Questions we get a lot
General
Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend booking ahead for larger groups or busy times.
Do you have vegetarian or vegan options?
Yes — we have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes. Let us know about any allergies.
Can I order takeaway?
Absolutely — order in person or message us ahead and we'll have it ready to go.
Menu
How long is the wait for food?
On a quiet night it's quick. When we're busy, especially weekends, it can take up to an hour — we'd rather cook it right than rush it out.
What should I order?
The half-chicken with coleslaw, rotisserie potatoes and cheese fries is the one people tell their friends about.
Do you serve bitterballen or other fried snacks?
Usually, but not always — if the fryer's down we won't serve them rather than serve them badly.
Does the menu change?
Yes, it moves with the seasons, so what's on it in summer isn't what's on it in winter.
Can I just come for drinks, not a full meal?
Absolutely — we're as much a bar as a kitchen. Good beer, good wine, and bar food if you want it.
Can I just get coffee or soup?
Yes — the paprika soup and a coffee is a perfectly good reason to stop by, no full meal required.
Are portions big?
They're honest rather than huge — some find them on the small side for the price, most find it fair.
Is it good value?
Generally, yes — reasonable food at a reasonable price is what most people find here.
Do you serve wine and beer?
Yes, both — a proper beer list and wine by the glass.
Do you serve dessert?
Yes, we do.
Book
Can I book a table for two or four?
Yes, book ahead through the site. On busy nights we can't always seat small groups without a reservation.
Do you take reservations for small groups if it's busy?
Not always — when we're full, walk-ins of one or two can have a longer wait. Booking ahead is the safer bet.
Visit us
Is the terrace on the canal?
Yes, right on the water. It's one of the best seats in the area for a warm evening.
When's the best time for a terrace seat?
Early. It fills up fast once the sun's out, so come before the evening rush if you want to grab a spot.
Is there outdoor seating?
Yes, right on the canal.
Is it near the Foodhallen?
Yes, just round the corner — easy to combine with a wander through there.
About
Is Fier touristy?
Not really — it's mostly locals and neighbourhood regulars, just off the main tourist streets.
Is service always good?
Mostly, yes — friendly and easy on a normal night. On a packed weekend, especially on the terrace, it can slow down. We're working on it.
